Matthew Principe is an internationally recognized producer, strategist, and arts innovator whose work has earned Grammy, Emmy, Peabody, Webby, and GLAAD Media Awards. His collaborations span the Metropolitan Opera, Detroit Opera, The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Apollo, Santa Fe Opera, and Boston Baroque.
With his agency Principe Dynamics, he bridges historical performance with contemporary storytelling, advancing sustainable models for new works and artist-centered practices, positioning the arts as a living, socially resonant force in the 21st century. Current projects include Billy Childs and Sarah LaBrie’s operatic adaptation of Octavia Butler’s Kindred, Tamar-kali’s chamber opera, The Swann, and Reinaldo Moya and Adalber Salas Hernández salsa opera, Cantos y Tumbaos.
As a producer of the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD series — the landmark cinema transmission program reaching 70+ countries — he helped shape one of the most ambitious live performance ventures in cultural history. Equally adept across mediums, he has produced award-winning short films, including Monsura is Waiting and Stag, and theater (Candy & Dorothy). He is a member of the Producers Guild of America, the Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Opera America.
